Just a minute in August

In August I'm....

Reading... Under Pressure: how the epidemic of over-parenting is endangering childhood, by Carl Honore. I highly recommend this book - it has brought me back down to earth in a lot of respects regarding how I parent my two. It looks at technology, toys, sports, discipline and education and how we impose our own expectations on our kids. The bottom line of this book is let children have a childhood.

Watching... I've seen a few dvds of late: Confessions of a Shopaholic (2/5), Wolfman (3/5), Daybreakers (3.5/5). Not watching much tv, although I don't mind Who do you think you are?

Travelling... We're planning our first camping trip as a family. Next month we're heading to Coffs Harbour for 5 nights. I CANNOT WAIT! I am envisaging lots of swimming, sand castle making, fishing, snoozing and camp cooking.

Learning... how to be still. I have quit university in an effort to spend more quality time with my growing family. It's hard though, staying still. I'm finding other ways to keep myself busy.

Loving... I love, now that I have quit uni, that I have more free time to just do what I like. I am also loving that I'm back to working three days a week again and I'm enjoying my 4 day long weekends!

I am also loving this idea found here at The Byron Life.

Making... I'm currently knitting a Susi Swirls Scarf by Morris and Sons. It is really easy and really effective, although it takes such a looooong time because I am so slooooow!

Eating... On the food front, I'm loving haloumi cheese - in salads, on crackers - wherever! My waist is not enjoying it though :( Also loving chorizo sausage and prawn skewers on the bbq. Mmmmmm. Time to get back on the Weight Watchers diet now (for a while).

Looking forward to... Spring. I have enjoyed the preview we've received in Brisbane this week.

What an awesomely informative post! I love the concept of Mamabake. Thanks so much for sharing. I'm definitely going to check out if my (no fine) library has the book. Sounds right up my alley.
