Sewing... and cake in a mugI

I just realised I forgot to post this skirt. This is the first one I made with the Simplicty 2258. I love it. So easy.
My little Han modelling her new handmade clothes.
Cake in a Mug. It was necessary. Found at Not Quite Nigella. Quick and easy. And no leftovers to binge on. This will be a regular I think - even good for dinner parties. Add good quality icecream and grated chocolate = perfect!
Wishing I had more time to read this book... I think it will be a late return to the library!
Personalising some skirts - iron embossed transfers. Too cute.

Work in progress : Ada's cot quilt

The fabric for Ada's cot quilt has finally arrived from The Fat Quarter Shop in the States. I love this fabric - it's so fresh! It's Promenade for Riley Blake Designs. The pattern I will be using for the quilt is one from the Moda Bakeshop, here.  So I just need to pre-wash the fabric, iron it and start gluing on my pieces! Now to find the time to do that...

It's been too long...

Whoa it's been a while. And while I am not the best blogger, I am vowing, promising, to get better. At least once a week. With two of my littlies now in kindy and school, I will try to find the time to post something that i'm sewing, cooking, reading, watching or liking, no matter how little time is available.

So here is an little update:

Knitting sock number two... it has only taken close a year!
We have started growing our own veges and it's the kid's job to water daily. Of course, most of the water ends up on them!
This little one is keeping me very busy! And up half the night, even at nearly 8 months!
Two more projects to add to my long list. Single Girl quilt for Hannah and the Flower Chain for our bed.
I am making this quilt for Ada's cot. I have all the pieces cut out, just waiting for a delivery from the Fat Quarter Shop for the rest of the fabric!
Living on this stuff at the moment.
I miss these two when they are at school... but the quiet is something I can get used to!
Hopefully I will be back this week.

Daydream : A little work in progress

Here is a picture of something I am very good at doing.

Daydreaming!

It's not finished yet, and I don't know what I will do with it when it's finished, but I'm liking it so far.

Unfinished drawing : Paris

Nearly everything on this blog lately has been a work in progress, and this one is no exception!

I started this drawing soon after I completed this one.
It was after I came back from my trip to Europe and the UK in 2003 and I drew this from one of my photographs.

I have total attention deficit disorder with regards to crafting, with all my flitting from one thing to the other.

But somehow I always come back to drawing.

I'm feeling the urge to pick up the pencil again and do some serious drawing.

Really serious this time.

I'm greatly inspired by this interview with Maira Kalman over here.
She says that her biggest secret to drawing is to perseverance.
"I do the best I can which means I try not to do it right but just to do it as I feel and as I see."
I will have to try and remember that. :-)

My giveaway is still in progress. Leave a comment on any post before Valentine's Day.
I'm happy to send overseas too, so all are welcome.

Just a minute in January

In January I'm....

Reading... more TAFE stuff on colour theory and design as well as The Creative Family by Amanda Blake Soule.

Watching... I saw Bride Wars a couple of weeks ago. Not bad.

Travelling... to Noosa next month for two nights.

Learning... about how to present colours schemes to clients as part of my course. I also learned how to make deep fried ice cream, which was a great success.

Loving... my new potager, complete with broccoli, zucchini, carrots, leeks, shallots and lettuce. I'm really loving getting back to nature. I'm also loving the way Little Man's quilt is coming together.

Not loving... Getting frustrated that there's not enough time to do everything!

Making... too many things: 3 softies, 2 quilts, 2 drawings, and so many plans for so many other things. [NOTE: I am still working on the lady bird for my giveaway.]

Looking forward to... Valentine's Day and making treats for my sweets.
