What's been happening?

A little bit of sewing.

Another Wiksten. This time a top.

I made this skirt (a) for my sewing class, but it was too big!
Photo of the finished product to come.

I made PJ pants for all the kids. Love this fabric.

Does anyone know who the artist/designer is?
I had enough of this fabric to make a little balloon dress for Miss A.

More to come!

Wiksten Tank Dress Mark I

I just finished my first Wiksten Tank Dress. My first Wiksten anything. I do like it very much!
I will have to make some mods for next time though - smaller size (I had to bring it in a fair bit) and the back is too gapey for my poor posture. But other than that - it's a winner. Throw a belt on, or not. Add leggings or not. Very comfy.

busy busy busy

I am nearing the end of assignment 2 for uni. YAY!
Turning the heel for sock 1, pair 2 (these ones are for hubby).
Just arm binding and hemming to go on my Wiksten tank dress.
I enjoy being productive :)

Recipe : Peach cake

Peach cake
This little gem is so easy and yummy. Serve it cold as a slice, or warm with custard (and ice cream please).

Here's the recipe. Like I said - so easy.

Simple Peachy Cake
4 eggs
330g (1 1/4 cups) caster sugar
250g unsalted butter (softened)
1Tbsp vanilla extract/essence
300g (2 cups) self raising flour
 400g tin peach slices

Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

Line a large rectangle baking tin or lamington tin.

Beat the eggs and sugar together until creamy. Add vanilla and butter. Beat until mixed and thickened.

Add in the sifted flour and fold this into the batter. Spread batter over lined tray.

Add peach slices to the top (no need to push down as they will sink).

Bake for 45 minutes.

Let cool a little and enjoy.

Yummy with custard!

And of course easy to add variations - apples, cherries, pears, apricots. Give it a go!

Pierrot tunic

My little Miss Ada is turning one is a week, so she needed something special to wear to her party.

Enter the Pierrot tunic.

This garment is ADORABLE. Designed by Rae Hoelskra and made by me.

And I love this tunic so much, that I have purchased a license to sell them. If you're interested, please leave a comment. More to come about setting up shop later.

A little dress I made for Miss A today. Totally drafted from scratch - a first for me really! I plan on replacing the flower with a big red velvet bow, and matching some stripy red and white tights and black shoes...

Playing around with patternmaking : Skirt for Miss H

I love the Simplicity 2258 skirts I made for myself so much so I thought I would play around, draft a pattern and see if I would love it as a little girl skirt too. So far, so good. It's still a work process, but I think it might just work out

In other news, my littlest one is just three weeks off turning one. Where the last year went, I have no clue. And I really need to pull my finger out with plans for her party.
I have done invitations though (draft above). I am keeping with a 'You are my sunshine' theme, and plan to use the Love Mae paper in some of the details. Fingers crossed it all comes together.

Total sweetness : Charla Anne

How totally and incredibly adorable are these little dollies, made by Charla Anne? Oh my, and this little house with all the detail? It's almost too much.
I can definitely see this added to my to-do list (Charla Anne mentioned on her blog that she will be selling a pattern shortly!). The only problem is sharing it with the kids!

If you haven't checked out Charla Anne's blog, you must. It is all pure sweetness.

Sewing... and cake in a mugI

I just realised I forgot to post this skirt. This is the first one I made with the Simplicty 2258. I love it. So easy.
My little Han modelling her new handmade clothes.
Cake in a Mug. It was necessary. Found at Not Quite Nigella. Quick and easy. And no leftovers to binge on. This will be a regular I think - even good for dinner parties. Add good quality icecream and grated chocolate = perfect!
Wishing I had more time to read this book... I think it will be a late return to the library!
Personalising some skirts - iron embossed transfers. Too cute.
